Bell Curve - Deep End
Dome of Doom Records
November 17th, 2023
Digital Album + Cassette

Bell Curve is a Texas-based music producer, DJ, and co-founder of NYC label Worst Behavior Recs. Her second album “Deep End” is set to release on Dome of Doom on November 17th. Alongside its traditional digital release on DSP’s and cassette, the album artwork has also been integrated with an interactive website, where each balloon character represents a track and is playable.

“First and foremost I describe this album as futuristic experimental bass tracks. A lot of dancehall inspiration is present in the beat structures, and the sonic palette is very metallic and aquatic for this release, as is the visual aspect. I actually originally made over half of these tracks for a video game a friend had asked me to potentially make the music for, set in an aquatic planet world. It didn’t work out for the game, but I loved that visual prompt and found it sparked a lot of imagination for me as a concept. The release really took full form as the vocal features fell into place. As many of the productions have a very minimal vibe, the artists added to the tracks in amazing ways.

I would say like most of my music, ‘Deep End’ takes a bunch of bass and electronic genres I like and expresses that through my personal sonic lens. I literally feel incapable of making a straight-forward track of a clear genre. It always ends up coming out as a hodgepodge of sounds and vibes, but with a common emotional thread and sonic palette that I think comes through regardless of the genre or speed.” - Bell Curve

On ‘Deep End’ you can hear influences from many musical genres and traditions like: Chicago footwork, experimental dancehall, UK/Jamaican sound system culture, halftime, and drum & bass.

The majority of the songs on the album were started in late 2019 and 2020, then Bell Curve worked on finishing the album from 2021 until early 2023. All production and mixing on the record was handled by Bell, except for some additional vocal mixdowns on Maintaining and Bad Gyal Angel-r done by Daddy Kev at the Cosmic Zoo studios in Los Angeles.

Features include Tra$h Magnolia from New Orleans, Chiara Noriko & Logan from London, Fox from Manchester, and Shanique Marie from Jamaica.

The album was mastered by Beau at Ten Eight Seven in London. The cover artwork and website were created by @symbios.wiki
